David Weatherston – Norwegian Football Enthusiast

I started playing football from a very young age, and it soon became my number one sport growing up.
By age 11 I was part of the Queen’s Park youth system and spent 10 years with the club, eventually ending in promotion from the Scottish Third Division.
I spent the next 9 years playing for various clubs in Scotland, before a move to Norway with my girlfriend.
Now married and living in the hometown of my Norwegian partner,  my passion for football continues.
I still occasionally play, but watching the football has become much more common than playing.

In 2020 I decided to follow much more closely the Norwegian football, both the Eliteserien and the 1st division, and my enjoyment for it has increased every week.
The parallels between Scottish and Norwegian football are quite strong, and I have found myself enjoying the style and learning about the players.

It started with writing match previews and reports, and soon I was able to talk much more knowingly about the football here.
With my knowledge I have worked on the weekly Norwegian Gambla podcast, and also written a piece for Nutmeg magazine about the game in Norway.

I also attained a BA in Sport and Physical Activity at Strathclyde University before I started professional football in 2007.

The future in football is unclear for me after a fairly successful playing career, but the Norwegian football has given me a new found passion.

In 2021 the plan is to continue working on the Gambla podcast, write weekly match previews for my own blog, and write articles for the Mr Fixit site

Also I am going to be doing some tactical analysis pieces, and some player analysis work as I try and move into more analytical articles for Norwegian football.

Hopefully there will be plenty of work for me in the future in football, and that I can provide worthwhile content for my readers.
